Purpose and Vision

Dear Family,

After much prayer and discussion since the year 2000, groundwork and guidelines were established toward a Barrus Family organization. These guidelines were recorded in two newsletters under the direction of Aunt Lillian, Uncle Ruel, and many others from each family branch from times past and present.

More of us are ready now to make the Barrus Family organization official. The 2002 and 2003 newsletters below include guidelines for the following organizing features:

• An association patterned after the Hale Family Organization
• Two-year officers
• Continuing officers
• Representatives from each family branch
• Projects with job descriptions for specific family history tasks
• Bi-annual reunion and other meetings

Please enjoy the newsletters, contribute some of your testimony-building experiences and family stories on this blog or on linked blogs, and do make known your own gifts and interests [but probably not your contact information on this site]. The next family reunion will be held in 2010.
Aunt Lillian described our vision and purpose. She said, " Soon we hope to become a broader branch, the Ruel Michael and Ida Princetta Hunter Barrus Organization. This can happen step by step as we communicate and cooperate with the other descendants of Ruel Michael Barrus. Later, descendants of Emery Barrus, another generation back, might choose to join with us in a strong organization which is dedicated to the sacred purpose of taking care of our family" (2002 newsletter).
